Meet the people behind the competition

Dr. Robin R. Murphy is the Raytheon Professor of Computer Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University and a director of Center for Robot-Assisted Search and Rescue, specializing in human-robot interaction and human-centered AI for ground, air, and marine robots. She is the author of over 150 papers and four books including the award-winning Disaster Robotics, a TED speaker, and founder of Roboticists Without Borders. She has deployed ground, air, and marine robots to over 29 disasters in five countries including the 9/11 World Trade Center, Katrina, and Fukushima, Hurricane Harvey and the Kilauea volcanic eruption.

Odair Fernandes is a research associate in the Humanitarian Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at Texas A&M University. Odair completed his undergraduate and masters degrees in computer science at Texas A&M University. Working under Dr. Robin Murphy's advisory, Odair has been in the work field during Hurricane Michael (2018)  serving as remote pilot in command and data manager.

Lekhitha Ammaresh is an undergraduate at Texas A&M University and is currently pursuing a major in computer science and minors in both Japanese and business. She is currently assisting Dr. Robin Murphy with the "Where is the Missing Person?" competition and managing this website.

Travis Stewart is a graduate research assistant working for Dr. Murphy as the lead developer on the CVER Toolkit project. Travis Stewart received an undergraduate degree in Computer Science from Texas A&M and is currently working on his Master’s in Computer Science at Texas A&M.
